Nelly Unzon is a senior at Palo Verde High School who has gotten offers from another school but she is still considering her career path and applying. She plans to attend a 4-year of university and and then 4 years of vet school. Nelly is a 17-year-old who was very involved in school clubs and events. Her achievements are inspiring with 7 graduation cords and 4 varsity sports she certainly has inspired others to get more involved.
Nelly has been a part of many clubs and sports. She is in 7 clubs, she is the Pet Club Social Media Manager, Vice President for SkillsUSA, President of Journalism, she is in President’s Club, Culinary Club, Esplandolandia, and NHS. For NHS she keeps her GPA above 3.5 and has over 200 hours of community service. She has been a part of Esplandolandia for 3 years and as President of Journalism, she is the co-editor of the yearbook, as well. She has been in 4 varsity sports: Track and Field, Soccer, Volleyball, and Cross Country. She definitely has been involved in a lot of clubs and sports and deserves recognition for her outstanding achievements.
She has always wanted to be a vet since a young age. She has a passion for helping out animals and isn’t scared of the challenges of being a vet because of her passion. She loved being involved and volunteering in the pet club. But she doesn’t want to be just a vet for house pets but also for farm animals. The person who has inspired her most is her grandma. She says her grandma is her best friend and role model. She tries to be like her grandma and achieve whatever she wants to achieve. “My grandma is who inspires me most; she is such a sweetheart and does whatever she puts her mind to.” Nelly says. So her grandma is a big part of why Nelly is who she is today and the achievements she has made.
Some challenges Nelly has faced in high school are procrastination and attendance. I think many can agree that procrastination and tardiness are a struggle in high school. She made many great memories going to homecomings and prom with her friends and she says she is going to miss the after parties. These are some memories she is going to remember for the rest of her life. Going to high school and making memories with friends is very important because you are only this age and get to experience high school once, and she definitely made the best of her high school years. She is going to miss playing one of her favorite sports soccer and getting to play with her best friend Danny Dill. She is not going to miss waking up early at 6 in the morning for school and having Saturday practices at 9:30 am. She is excited to be finished and to graduate from high school already!
