Januel Fernandez’s Senior Picture

Januel Fernandez is a young athlete attending Palo Verde High School. He is 18 years old and is from Las Vegas, Nevada. Upon attending Palo Verde High School, Januel Fernandez has been playing football for the entire time he has been here. During his last football season, he played Running Back on the varsity team and was awarded player of the game multiple times. By the end of the season, he was also awarded an All-League patch from his coaches. Due to his incredible performance on the field, Januel has decided to attend school at Palomar Community College,in San Marcos, California, and further his athletic career. 

Palomar Community College is a Jr college located in San Marcos.  Januel Fernandez has stated that he believes he is best at the position of wide receiver in football, and he was made for that position. During his high school career as a Palo Verde Yellow Jacket Januel played Running Back. “I had to play a position that I wasn’t made to play, and I feel like that has affected me going into the College level” Januel said. Januel stated that he has chosen this college because of the many opportunities that it offers him. “They’ve offered me to play at my position, as receiver,” Januel says.  

Januel reports that he hopes to be able to get recognized by bigger schools past the community college level such as Division 1 schools. “ I already have offers from Division 3 and Division 2 schools, the community college I am going to, gets looked at more than other schools and I’m paying less money.” With an opportunity like this Januel will not let it up and will continue his football career. He has also played baseball as well and when asked why he chose football over baseball he said, “I am better at football.” Januel states that he will miss his family the most while away at college, and that he will not miss Blythe’s heat. We wish Januel the best of luck as he moves away and are amazed at what he has been able to accomplish.
